The Western Canada Sedimentary Basin (WCSB) encompasses much of Western Canada, including parts of the Yukon and Northwest Territories. It extends from the westernmost portions of the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia, across the foothills and plains of Alberta, and into the southern portions of Saskatchewan and Manitoba (Mossop and Shetsen,1994).
