Light-absorption enhancement in thin-film silicon solar cells with front grating and rear-located nanoparticle grating

摘要

A new light-trapping structure combining front grating and rear-located metal nanoparticle grating for thin-film crystalline silicon solar cells is theoretically investigated. Over a wide range of the solar spectrum, light absorption has been improved. By analyzing light-absorption enhancement and the electric-field intensity profiles, it is demonstrated that light- absorption improvement lies in the superposition of the grating diffraction and the particle scattering effects. Furthermore, optimizations of front grating and rear metal NPs are performed, and an impressive short-circuit current density within a 1 μm c-Si layer is obtained.
