Don't keep your corporate strategy under lock and key. Making it a part of your daily business can help unlock strategic excellence. I once asked the CEO of a one billion dollar company to show me a copy of his corporate strategy. "Sure," he replied, "it's right here in my desk drawer." He reached into his desk, but it was not there. He probed further, rummaged through other drawers, but still no strategy. "It's not here," he said incredulously. "Where can it be?"A good question and one that invites another: If the top corporate leader cannot locate his strategy, what can we expect from other managers throughout that organiza-tion?
