All FR garments protect workers from harm to various degrees, the government standards insist on this. The biggest headache safety managers face is not that the garments aren't protective but that workers don't want to wear them. They'd rather just leave them in the truck. It's not that workers want to be at risk. It is simply that they get too hot. They get uncomfortable. So they take liberties and alter the garment in some way, such as rolling coveralls down to their waists, leaving sleeves unbuttoned or collars open As all safety managers know, making sure workers wear their garments in a compliant manner is job one.
