The increased cost of oil and heightened demand for natural gas has put a premium on custody transfer in the flowmeter markets, according to a study from Flow Research. Coriolis flowmeter suppliers have responded with a new line of Coriolis flowmeters with line sizes from 8 to 14 inches. Formerly, only Rheonik (now part of GE Measurement) offered Coriolis meters in line sizes above 6 inches. Other suppliers have also jumped in to take advantage of the growing demand for these high-value applications, including Micro Motion (part of Emerson Process Management), Endress+Hauser and KROHNE. The increased value of oil is placing a premium on both accuracy and reliability in custody transfer measurements in which ownership of the product is transferred from one party to another.
