Deepwater Corrosion Services says the company now has a Mexican patent on its CP Mat Stabilizer with cathodic protection. With receipt of the Mexican patent, the CP Mat is now patented in both the U.S. and Mexico.rnThe system combines a concrete stabilization mattress and cathodic protection system in one. By casting anodes directly into the concrete segments, the company says a standard mattress can now provide cathode protection for pipeline crossings, pipelines in harsh bottom conditions and many other applications.rnAccording to company officials, the CP Mat is undergoing extensive R&D, with the aim of including cathodic protection (CP) monitoring equipment. If successful, the mat would provide reliable CP in deep water, where interrogation and maintenance can only be achieved with ROVs, and in the near future, AUVs.
