A new compressor designed to be packaged with the latest, higher horsepower engines has been introduced by Dresser-Rand. The HOSS~(TM) compressor is described as a larger, medium-speed unit. The unit is intended for gas field applications that include gas lift, gas gathering, pipeline boosting, gas transmission, underground gas storage (injection and withdrawal), fuel gas boosting, landfill gas recovery and related applications. Demand is increasing for natural gas compressors, according to Dresser Rand. To meet this demand, it developed the HOSS compressor, a heavy-duty addition to the heavy oilfield separable (HOS~(TM)) compressor line that has proven to be rugged and reliable in the gas field market.
