Planning is a vital and necessary step in any business process. It is even more important for pipeline managers, operators, and engineers. Time is money and knowing when to schedule crews and personnel can affect the bottom line. For today's pipelines, it is imperative to have the best data and information available in order to make the best business decisions.rnMaking important financial decision is where access to real-time weather and industry information can have the greatest impact. Pipeline operators need to know how much gas they are going to require at the end of the pipeline so they can adequately meet customer demands.rnBeing underground, weather doesn't directly affect the pipelines, but it can, however, impact oil rigs and the crew members who work on them. If severe weather is approaching, the safety of the crew is of utmost concern. Decisions of whether to evacuate rigs or even involving the timing regarding rotating crew members on and off rigs need to be made quickly.
