Offshore pipeline projects based in the Asia Pacific region have recently received major boosts in light of burgeoning demand for energy to assist the development of regional economies. The PM3-Ca Mau gas pipeline, which is being executed as part of the development of southern Vietnamese gas fields, has had a spate of major contracts awarded recently. Late last year, the USD245 million engineering, procurement and construction contract was awarded to Russian-Vietnamese joint venture Vietsovpetro. Bredero Shaw signed a USD33 million contract to undertake the coating requirements of the project while most recently, J. Ray McDermott has been awarded a USD60 million contract to install the pipeline.
