Pipeline & Gas Journal and Underground Construction magazines recently hosted their annual contractors' roundtable for the distribution and transmission underground construction markets. Those participating were: Paul M. Daily, president and CEO of InfraSource Underground Services; Mike Jordan, regional vice president, Henkels & McCoy Inc.; Nolan Dickinson, vice president operations, K.R. Swerdfeger Construction Inc.; and Dale A. Mykyte, vice president, pipeline operations, Pe Ben Industries Company Ltd. Though obviously concerned with the economy, the comments of all four participants reflect cautious optimism regarding the near-term market health. That welcoming perception differs from the past three years when adapting to and surviving the economic crunch dominated. The executives discuss changes that have been manifested upon the market from a slow economy. Business changes and safety issues are also a focus.
