Zetron Inc.'s trunked radio system was recently selected to provide communications along the entire length of a 932-mile oil pipeline operated by the western branch of KazTransOil in Kazakhstan. The pipeline, which runs through Aktau, Atyrau, Uralsk and Samara, has nine pump stations and six stations for heating oil. For some time, communications along the pipeline have been poor. The existing system—in place for about 30 years—is based on cable system channels, which had been extensively damaged by the hostile environment.
