When it introduced its NX Cubprototype last year, CubCrafterscreated a backcountry airplaneunlike any in the world, one that’sconvertible between nosegear andtailwheel configuration. Recently,the Yakima, Washington-basedcompany announced that itwould seek certification for theNX Cub, a nosegear/tailwheelconvertible version of its XCub.The company didn’t make thedecision lightly. It was only after ithad run the idea past thousandsof customers, 300 of whom actuallyflew the plane over the pastyear, that the company made thecall to certify and produce theNX version of its award-winningXCub (the official designation ofwhich is the CC19).
