The Indiana Finance Authority expects to move swiftlynto respond to the state Court of Appeals’ October 30 rulingnthat struck down a controversial 30-year contract for the statento buy synthetic natural gas from Indiana Gasification’snproposed $2.7 billion coal gasification plant near Rockportnin Spencer County. In a 2-1 ruling, the appellate courtnreversed the contract signed by IFA and Indiana Gasificationnand approved nearly a year ago by the Utility RegulatorynCommission, saying it should not apply to certain industrialncustomers (EUW, 28 Nov ‘11, 15). “We’re going to work tonfix the issues with the retail use customer definition in thencontract,” IFA attorney Andrew Keinle said. Once that happens,nIFA expects to resubmit the contract to the URC.
