UIL Holdings November 10 said its acquisition of three nat-nural gas utilities from Iberdrola USA would close “within days” nfollowing approval by the Connecticut Department of Public nUtility Control.n That would be less than six months after the deal was nannounced May 25. UIL originally expected to close in first-nquarter 2011.n DPUC approved the “change in control” of Connecticut nNatural Gas and Southern Connecticut Gas. UIL is to acquire ntheir holding companies, CTG Resources and Connecticut nEnergy, for $790 million, as well as Berkshire Energy Resources, nparent of Berkshire Gas in Massachusetts, for about $95 millionnin cash (EUW, 31 May, 3).n Spain ‘s Iberdrola acquired the three gas holding companiesnwhen it bought their parent Energy East in September 2008 for nabout $4.5 billion in cash.
