As the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission continues nto consider multiple competing views on its proposal for how nnew transmission projects should be planned and paid for, nChairman Jon Wellinghoff blasted a major newspaper’s editorial nlast week for painting the proposal with what he said was the nwrong brush.nThe Wall Street Journal’s November 8 editorial, titled “The nGreat Transmission Heist,” blasted FERC for proposing a rule nthat the newspaper said would force broad regions and broadly nscattered customers to pay for renewables-related transmission nlines that would not benefit them.nApparently, Wellinghoff said in an interview, the newspaper n“even failed to give us the courtesy of reading our rule. I identi-nfied a number of errors in the editorial. But more importantly, nthe overall mischaracterization of what we’re doing ... was very ntroubling to me.”
