The Texas General Land Office's deputy commissioner for renewable energy said GLO anticipates up to 1,000 MW of onshore wind, offshore wind and solar capacity will be in operation on land it controls by 2010-11, and that many more projects are likely in subsequent years. GLO controls about 13 million acres of onshore and submerged land, including the first 10 miles off the Texas coast, Deputy Commissioner Dwain Rogers said in an interview. A significant portion of GLO's land has potential for wind farms, solar projects and, in rarer cases, geothermal projects.
