Opponents of the Trans-Allegheny Interstate Line last week applauded the decision by a Virginia hearing examiner to reopen the record to allow in new information. Dominion Virginia must present new generation and load flow data before a ruling can be made on the need for the 200-mile, 500-kV line, hearing examiner Alexander Skirpan said. Opponents of the line had asked for information on how American Electric Power's proposed Potomac Appalachian Transmission Highline, more commonly called the Path, a 290-mile mostly 765-kV line from St. Albans, West Virginia, to the Kemptown substation south of Frederick, Maryland, would affect the need for the Trans-Allegheny line. The Path line would come into service one year after the Trans-Allegheny Line.
