After a decade during which power plants tired by natural gas overwhelmingly dominated generation construction in the US, a new build cycle is under way for coal-fired projects.rnIndustry executives still worry that too few plants will be built with coal as fuel and too many built to burn natural gas, placing too much demand on a fuel with volatile prices. NRG Energy CEO David Crane earlier this year told investment analysts that uncertainty about traditional pulverized coal-fired plants had reached "the point where some people are referring to it as a de facto coal moratorium."
