摘要

Values of existing power plants continue to be supported by the rising cost of new construction and the drawbacks and uncertainties of every new-build option, speakers generally agreed at the Platts Financing US Power conference in New York City last week.In the past year, BG North America's North American Power group bought three plants in ISO New England, totaling 1,212 MW, for $925.2 million, or an average $763/kW. Director Lynn Allen pointed out that a report by The Brattle Group for the Edison Foundation, released last month, found that between 2005 and 2006, the average cost of new gas-fired combined-cycle units jumped 56.5% to an average $895/kW. That followed a 24.6% rise, to $572/kW, between 2000 and 2005.
