摘要

Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe has named 17 members to a new commission charged with evaluating the benefits of actions taken at the state level to combat global warming, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions.rnThe panel also must compare the benefits of instituting measures immediately with the costs of delaying action, and evaluate how each would affect citizens, state and local governments, businesses and others. "This commission will give Arkansans our own perspective on the scope and potential impact of this phenomenon," Beebe said.rnThe commission must set a pollution reduction goal for the state and develop a comprehensive strategic plan to reach that goal. The purpose of the goal is to help attract "clean and renewable energy industries" to the state, the law establishing the commission said.
