Belgian regulator the CREG has disagreed with the Belgiangovernment’s approach to quantifying generation adequacy.In a response published January 16 to the European Commission’sconsultation on adequacy plans, the CREG objects to the Belgiangovernment’s use of Hi-Lo scenarios as well as a base scenario,arguing the High Impact-Low Probability scenario leads to anoverestimation of the capacity needs for Belgium as it assumesdecreased nuclear availability in France for all the years considered inthe adequacy assessment.
