Transmission system operator Tennet plans to start two 100 MW batteries as “grid boosters” at opposing ends of its German network from 2023, a spokesman for Tennet told S&P Global Platts Feb. 17. Provisional changes to storage regulation in the energy industry act (EnWG) and approval of the federal requirements act (BBPIG) on Feb. 12 have given sufficient framework conditions to realize the pilot projects, the spokesman said. Both reforms are set to take effect in the coming weeks.
