Germany’s winter power reserve capacity requirements were reduced to 5.67 GW for the coming winter, grid regulator BNetzA said April 28. Grid operators analyze reserve requirements for the coming winter as well as two winters ahead with the regulator confirming the TSOs analysis, it said. “Grid reserve requirements for the coming winter is lower due to the return to market of gas-fired power plants in Southern Germany,” BNetzA President Jochen Homann said in a statement. “The faster grid expansion is proceeding, the quicker reserve requirements will fall.”
