Czech industry minister Karel Havlicek has said coal phase-out scenarios should take into account prices for carbon allowances rising faster after reconstituting a national coal commission July 20. The commission is to recommend to the government a final date for coal use in power generation by the end of this year. “The Coal Commission will prepare further scenarios for the phaseout of coal in the Czech Republic,” the minister said. Scenarios will take into account different possibilities for faster rising prices for carbon allowances, he added. The 19-member advisory commission was reconstituted with the appointment of two new members representing ecological associations and the renewables power sector.
