“The risk of a blackout is real and must be allowed for in ourrnstrategic planning,” defence minister Guy Parmelan of thernSwiss People’s Party told the Swiss electricity supplyrnindustry’s annual congress in Bern January 11.rnWarning that the consequences would threaten nationalrnsecurity but would also have a serious financial impact, thernminister said his department the DDPS was preparing for arncomplete power failure, which it estimates would costrnbetween CHF 2-4 billion per day.
