E.ON, RWE, EnBW and Vattenfall are no longer able to exert "individual market power" after nuclear closures and the solar boom combined to diminish the Big Four's generation dominance, but they still need close monitoring, the Monopolies Commission reported September 5. Total generating capacity in Germany amounted to 174,179 MW in 2012, of which 103,609 MW was conventional capacity and 70,570 MW renewables, mainly onshore wind and solar. In 2012, the big four accounted for 68％ of generating capacity, down from 85％ in 2007.
