Heizkraftwerk Mainz, a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Mainz (66.6%) and Kraftwerke Mainz Wiesbaden KMW (33.3%), is planning a large district heating water store with an electricity-powered heater in the industry park at Ingelheimer Aue in preparation for a change to district heating procurement from 2015.In just over two years, the current gas supply contract for KMW's 406-MWe cogeneration CCGT power station at Ingelheimer Aue expires.After that, the CCGT, "which has for many years been the backbone of the Mainz district heating system," will no longer be in operation for almost the whole year but rather will only operate in peak and middle load for 1,000-3,000 hours per year, the Stadtwerke said.
