Legislation making it easier to build small wind farms in France was passed by the National Assembly on October 4. It is now with the Senate. The key changes are removal of the need for wind farms to consist of at least five turbines and for siting to be in designated zones. There is no change, however, to the requirement that large wind farms be subject to authorization procedures deriving from EU rules on Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC).
