Europam presented proposals for a 56-MW floating biofuel-fired cogeneration plant to Genoa City Council October 1. The Triton project (Progetto Tritone) consists of a 76 x 38 meter barge using vegetable oils to produce heat and power, that can be berthed a few miles from the coast or, as proposed for Genoa, in the port area due to the reduced visual impact. Estimated cost is €70 million. It could be completed in 12-18 months' time.
