The UK has a 35% capacity margin, more than enough to ensure security of supply even in a harsh winter, grid operator National Grid said in its October 7 Winter Outlook.rnPower demand this winter, adjusted for differences in the weather, is forecast to be 57.7 GW, just below peak demand in early 2010. The TSO noted that 2009/10 demand peak was 200 MW lower than the 2008/09 figure, itself 2,300 MW lower than in winter 2007/08.
