E.ON has reached agreement with BKW of Bern and Groupe E (Fribourg, Neuchatel) on the transfer of its shares in the BKW Group. The sale netted the German company CHF 500 (€374) million. E.ON acquired a 20% stake in BKW in two stages, in 1997 and 1999. BKW has itself taken 8.9% of the shares from E.ON and Groupe E 5.01%, doubling the latter's BKW holdings to 10%. BKW retains an option until September 2011 on the remaining 7% of shares worth about CHF 200 million, which remain in the possession of E.ON.
