Direct Energie has said it expects to begin construction of a gas-fired combined cycle 892-MW plant at Hambach in northeastern France next year. Construction will take three years and cost more than €700 million.rnThe key factor in the announcement is the issue of the operating licence issued by the Prefect of the Department of the Moselle, which is the final building block in the permitting process.rnDirect Energie says the plant will be "exemplary and unique in France in terms of respect for the environment and the quality of the air and water," because the government (via the Prefect) has imposed requirements that go beyond the statutory minimum.
