The merger of Italian municipal utilities Iride and Enia took effect July 1.rnThe new company, Iren, makes its debut as Italy's largest district heating multi-utility and its fifth largest for gas, sixth for power, third for water and third for environmental services, it said in a presentation.rnThe new Board of Directors took up delegated powers July 1. A first annual general meeting is scheduled for August, the company said. This would be followed byrnIren's first marketing campaign in the autumn of this year, and a new business plan in January, 2011.
