RWE Innogy has bought offshore wind project company Enova Energieanlagen, RWE said January 6, and with it the rights to the 960-MW North Sea Windpower 3 project. The wind farm is to be renamed Innogy Nordsee 1.rn"Upon approval from the authorities, this will be the largest planned offshore wind farm off the German coast," RWE said. The site, 40-km north of the North Sea island of Juist, covers an area of around 150 sq km.rnSome 150 to 180 wind turbines of 5-to-6-MW each are planned. Site tests suggest the wind farm could run at just under 4,000 full-load hours and supply a total of over 3 TWh/yr - enough to supply 780,000 households. Negotiations with REpower concerning a framework agreement for up to 250 wind turbines are at "a very advanced stage," RWE said. It expects the contract to be signed at the beginning of 2010.
