Transmission system operator Fingrid is making preparations to connect 2,000-MW of wind power to the Finnish grid over the next 10 years, it said September 9. The company is making capital investments of €1.6 billion in Finland's grid and reserve power over the period, which it says will enable the connection of one large nuclear power unit and 2,000 MW of wind by 2020.rnFingrid chief executive Jukka Ruusunen noted: "the power system must always withstand the tripping of the largest power plant from electricity production. On the other hand, wind power production increases the need for regulating power."rnDalkia and Solar Euromed have teamed up to work on Solenha, France's first thermo-dynamic solar power plant. This, the first solar concentration power plant in France, will be built on an 80 hectare site at Aspres sur Buech in southeastern France.
