The Platts ICE Gas Indices Americas North America contract averaged $1.63/MMBtu for the most recent five trading days (October 4 – October 10), as strong production overwhelms lower shoulder season demand. Despite strong exports, total gas demand fell week-over-week as lower temperatures crushed power sector consumption. Gas-fired power demand averaged 30.4 Bcf/d over the past week, down from a 35.1 Bcf/d average the week prior. The average US temperature was in the low-to-mid 60s Fahrenheit over the last week, as a cold front moved into the Southeast and Texas.
