The Energy Department and contractor Bechtel SAIC are soliciting input on a range of issues in their efforts to obtain a license for the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository. In four separate Federal Business Opportunities "presolicita-tion notices" issued late last month, DOE and Bechtel SAIC sought proposals to design handling equipment for waste canisters and vendors to conduct: independent reviews of the department's application for a license to build and operate the repository; engineering processes and procedures used by Bechtel SAIC and the Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management; and Sandia National Laboratories' plans for quality assurance at the project.
