In the Southwest, prices trended down as the California IndependentSystem Operator forecast peakload demand to come down 7.5%Friday.Palo Verde on-peak day-ahead fell $7.75 to trade in the high $20s/MWhon the Intercontinental Exchange for Friday-Saturday delivery. Thecorresponding off-peak package sank $3 to trade near $18.50/MWh. Monaoff-peak similarly sank $2 to price at $18/MWh.Moving in parallel, Mead on-peak day-ahead lost $7.50 to trade inthe upper $20s/MWh.High temperatures in Phoenix were forecast to come down belowseasonal norms Friday, at 100 degrees. Similarly, Los Angeles hightemperatures were forecast 1 degree below average Friday at 76degrees. Accordingly, the California Independent System Operatorforecast demand Friday to fall 7.5% to 36,720 MW from Thursday’s39,720 MW peakload level, the largest day-on-day decrease in about aweek.
