The Electric Reliability Council of Texas on Friday notified the marketthat NRG Energy can suspend operations at its 385-MW Gregory Powerplant, north of Corpus Christi, as planned beginning October 17, as it isnot needed to maintain transmission reliability.NRG Energy restarted the plant in June for what was expected tobe a tight power supply situation — borne out by the declaration onEnergy Emergency Alerts last Tuesday and Thursday. NRG Energyplans to place the plant in mothball status year around, except forseasonal operations for June through September.
