With two important federal permits received Monday, the 12-MWCoastal Virginia Offshore Wind project being developed by DominionEnergy and Ørsted US could start delivering power to the PJMInterconnection grid by summer 2020.“This is a significant milestone as we move forward on building thefirst-ever fully permitted offshore wind project in federal waters,” MarkMitchell, Dominion Energy’s vice president of generation construction,said in a statement.Dominion received “no objection” determinations from the Bureauof Ocean Energy Management in response to its Facility Design Reportand Fabrication and Installation Report. The reports were filed inconjunction with global developer Denmark-based Ørsted and Spain’sSiemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, the company manufacturing theproject’s two 6-MW wind turbines.
