Southeastern US states are scheduled to have added 4.3 GW of solarcapacity to their mix in 2021, growing the fleet by 29.2% to almost 19GW, S&P Global Market Intelligence data shows, which may mitigatewholesale power increases in the Southeast in summer 2022.The biggest capacity increases are 1.4 GW in Florida and almost 1GW in Virginia. North Carolina, which already led the region with 5.2 GWat the end of 2020, is slated to have added the third-largest total in2021, at 611 MW.
