COMEX gold futures continued to make headway above the $1,600/oz mark in Thursday trading, as nthe precious metal shrugged off a strengthening US dollar , amid factors like Middle East tensions nand their possible impact on crude oil prices. Gold for February delivery, the active month, rose n$7.40 higher to $1,620.10/oz Thursday. In after-hours trading as of 1:45 p.m. EST , February gold nalso rose, up $10 to $1,622.70, after rallying to an intraday high at $$1,626.80, from a session nlow at $1,597.70.
