Alcoa has signed new multi-year supplynagreements with aircraft manufacturernAirbus for Alcoa’s aerospace aluminumnsheet, plate and hard alloy extrudednproducts using the company’s current,nadvanced-generation and aluminumnlithium alloys, the US aluminum producernsaid Wednesday. The agreements werensigned this week at the FarnboroughnAir Show in the UK. Terms were not disclosed,nbut the deals have a value ofnabout $1.4 billion over their life spans,nthe company said. Alcoa’s aluminumnsolutions will be used “across virtuallynall Airbus commercial programs” andninclude new lower wing skins on thenA320; several aluminum lithium applicationsnon the A350 and A380, includingnthe largest extruded lower wing stringersnfor the A380; as well as the largest wingnskins and fuselage panels for the A380nand structural plate for the A350, thencompany said. Alcoa’s hard alloy extrudednproducts, including rod, drawn tubingnand extruded shapes for wing stringersnand floor structures, will be suppliednfrom the company’s plants in Lafayette,nIndiana, and Halethorpe in Baltimorenin the US, and Hannover in Germany.nAlcoa flat-rolled products will be suppliednfrom the company’s plants in Davenport,nIowa, in the US, Kitts Green in the UK,nand Belaya Kalitva in Russia.
