Tin supply constraints will likely continue ninto 2011, as Indonesian exports are nexpected to continue to fall and other ncountries that make the metal are not nputting their products on the global mar-nket, Commerzbank analysts said Tuesday. nIndonesia, the world’s second-largest tin nproducer and largest exporter, exported n9.2% less tin year-on-year in December nat 7,722 mt, Commerzbank said. For full-nyear 2010, Indonesian tin exports totaled n92,487 mt, 6.9% below 2009 levels, ndecline compared with the previous year. n“An exceptionally long rainy season on naccount of the La Nina weather phenom-nenon badly hit Indonesia’s tin production nand transport, especially in the second nhalf of the year,” Commerzbank said. n“The government now expects a domes-ntic production of 90,000 mt in the cur-nrent year should tin prices remain high n... ,” the analysts said. The bank said it nexpects the country’s exports to continue nto slide given that producer stockpiles nare largely exhausted. “Furthermore, nthis is unlikely to lead to any significant nexpansion of global supply as other key nproducers such as Peru and China are likewise facing problems or [are] not nexporting tin,” the report said.
