The miner’s copper division produced a ntotal of 913,500 mt of mined copper in n2010, up 0.7% from 2009. The company nsaid improved grades and higher mining nrates had increased volumes at Kidd undernground mine in Canada by 21% to 52,600 nmt and more than doubled the copper in nconcentrate production at Ernest Henry in nAustralia to 74,600 mt, despite challengingnoperating conditions at some of its South nAmerican operations. Total gold production nincreased by 4% in 2010 to 524,800 oz ndue to a strong recovery in gold produc-ntion at Ernest Henry that was partially noffset by lower grades and recoveries at nAlumbrera in Argentina and Tintaya in Peru.nErnest Henry produced 91,259 oz of gold nin concentrate in 2010, up from 45,227 noz recorded in 2009. Total combined ncustom and mined copper cathode produc-ntion dipped by 2% to 715,500 mt in 2010 nprimarily due to the decision to reduce cus-ntom processing through the permanent clo-nsure of the Kidd metallurgical operations innMay. This, however, was partially offset by nrecord cathode production at the Townsvillenrefinery in Australia due to increased supplynof anode from Altonorte in Chile.
