Strong demand and expansion work at the Vila ndo Conde port in northern Brazil are the main nreasons behind recent delays to alumina export nshipments there, port manager Patrick Barros said nWednesday. Vila do Conde has only four loading nberths in operation and has started building new nfacilities that will double the number of berths and ncapacity at its No.1 terminal by the first quarter of n2012 to 40 million mt of bulk commodities such nas alumina, bauxite, pig iron, coke, manganese nore, and fertilizer.
