The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), via its numerous standards developing committees, has been busy in the past year revising many of its standards. ASME wants to ensure the standards reflect the latest in technology, safety and industry practices. In July, an updated edition of the 28 volume ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) was published, including a revised edition of BPVC Section IV, Heating Boilers. Key changes to the 2013 edition of Section IV include: 1. Updated requirements for welded and brazed connections.
