Knowles R. Kerry and Martin J. Riddle edited a long outstanding assessment of the health of Antarctic wildlife. Based on case studies and reviews, the book compiles a compendium of information on health and disease and on environmental, administrative, and social factors that can potentially affect the state of health of Antarctic seals and birds. Twenty-eight authors-mostly from Australia, but also from New Zealand and the USA-have contributed to the book. They wish "to provide information in a consolidated form to the Antarctic Treaty Parties who, through domestic legislation and regulation, are responsible for implementing the environmental protection regime in Antarctica. Further the book is intended for use by veterinary and biological scientists, policy makers and administrators whose job it is to protect the health of Antarctica's wildlife."
