摘要

Welcome to Vol. 34 No. 3. This issue contains ten papers examining a range of important topics in policing. The articles in this issue deal with policing around the globe. The papers cover a wide variety of specific topics, but address a smaller number of core issues. Two of the articles explore aspects of police deviance or misbehavior in both in-service and pre-service populations. Other papers assess different personnel issues ranging from officer perceptions of their work through employee stress. Still other papers deal with public perceptions of the police and police services to the public. Finally, the remaining articles all explore some aspects of police management from crime control effectiveness to policing reform. Our authors examine controls on police behavior including efforts to be more responsive to citizen needs and concerns about the police. The forces that contribute to the development of specific police organizations and functions and comparisons of theoretical and research findings in different national settings are characteristic of the papers appearing in this issue. We are grateful for the contributions of our authors, and encourage our readers to submit articles for consideration. In addition to these papers, this issue contains our feature section "Perspectives" and a book review.
