摘要

The present paper deals with some points related to the VAN measurements in Greece that attracted interest during the last two years and were discussed in the most recent conferences. First, we review the predictions of the three big earthquakes that occurred in Greece during 1995, i.e., M ≈ 6.0 on May 4, M ≈ 6.6 on May 13, and M ≈ 6.5 on June 15; the predictions were based on activities of Seismic Electric Signals (SES) recorded both on short (horizontal) dipole and long dipole arrays, thus excluding any possibility of attributing them to a nearby artificial noise. In one case, two short vertical dipoles were also operating; these vertical dipoles do not show any significant variation, although clearly record magnetotelluric (MT) disturbances. In all three cases, the SES electric field polarisation is different from that corresponding to MT. Furthermore, we give a preliminary report on plausible radioelectric disturbances that have been detected before these three big earthquakes.
